It is Tuesday morning as we wake in Venice, Los Angeles. Today is our last day of our 5 week visit to the United States. Cities we have visited along the way are Manhattan in New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles, California. It has been an amazing trip but our thoughts now start to turn to home.
The lovely Cadillac Hotel has given us a 1:00pm checkout which is excellent. This means we can start our last day in Venice, California with a nice long walk along Venice Beach. Not many people about. The water is cool and beautiful. A crystal clear blue day (apart from the smog layer which appears to lie just offshore).
I could walk this beach all day. We are both a bit sad to be leaving and we are already discussing when we might return.
One last meal at the corner eatery and a final wander along Ocean Front Boulevard and around Venice, California.
Our Super Shuttle (pre-booked for USD$25 for us both) arrives and has us at our LAX terminal in 40 minutes.
Our United Airlines flight is delayed taking off and, while we do have a stopover in Honolulu due to a sick passenger, we enjoy our final touchdown in Melbourne. While our holiday has been excellent, its so good to be home!
