I have spent 4 excellent days exploring the beachside peninsula of Vung Tau, staying at the back beach of Bai Sau. Sadly it is now time to check out of the My Le Hotel.

I wake up on a Thursday morning in the largest city in Vietnam… Ho Chi Minh City, also known as HCMC or by its former name of Saigon.  I am staying at the Mai Phai Hotel which itself is located centrally on Pham Ngu Lao Street in Ho Chi Minh, having arrived fairly exhausted last night following a 5 hour bus trip from Mui Ne.  I am feeling better having had a good sleep and am ready to tackle the day.  Today’s plan is to explore the city and its museums.  Continue reading

I have just spent the afternoon exploring Mui Ne and now leave the lovely and relaxing resort beach of Mui Ne behind as I head to the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh where I will spend the next couple of days exploring.

To get to Ho Chi Minh City, I am taking a bus.  Travel time to HCMC is 5 hours.  I find a seat on the bus and next to me arrives my new best friend “Aziz”.  Continue reading

A Vietnam holiday just like they did in Top Gear

Its September and I am two months into an extended break from full time work. My last day at work was July, the day before my birthday. My first real day of my extended break was my birthday (happy birthday to me I guess).

The length of my break is undetermined and it might depend on my finances because this extended break is completely self-funded. A mental health day just wasn’t going to cut it, I wanted a proper break. Continue reading
