Last look at Mui Ne beach
I have just spent the afternoon exploring Mui Ne and now leave the lovely and relaxing resort beach of Mui Ne behind as I head to the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh where I will spend the next couple of days exploring.
To get to Ho Chi Minh City, I am taking a bus. Travel time to HCMC is 5 hours. I find a seat on the bus and next to me arrives my new best friend “Aziz”. Continue reading
Bungalow complete with mozzie net
I wake under my mozzie net in my AU$28 bungalow. I checked in yesterday to the 3 star Suoi Tien Mui Ne Resort in Mui Ne, Vietnam and am grateful that my mozzie net seems to have done its job.
Yesterday I arranged for my motorbike taxi guy to take me again on his motorbike for a “tour for one” of Mui Ne (for an agreed fee). He said he could take me on a tour which would include stops at the fishing village, the white and red sands and the Fairy River. We had arranged that he would pick me up from my accommodation at the crack of 9:00am. Continue reading
Picture perfect welcome to Mui Ne
I have arrived in the tiny beach resort location of Mui Ne courtesy of a 250km bus trip from Nha Trang and my initial thoughts are – what have I done? What possessed me to choose to come here? What a disaster!
My bus has stopped at what appears to be a resort and we are motioned that this is our drop off point. I have no idea where I actually am in relation to Mui Ne’s town centre (if there is such a thing). We didn’t pass through anything that looked like civilization.
arriving at Vinpearl island
Monday morning, 28 September, and it is my third day in the beachside town of Nha Trang, Vietnam. I am travelling on my own again today as my “sometimes” travelling companions (my brother and his girlfriend) have left this morning to move on to Thailand.
Today I head to Hon Tre Island, otherwise known as Vinland (Vinpearl Island/Vinpearl Land/Vinpearl Amusement Park) with the big Hollywood style sign “VINPEARL”on the hill. Continue reading
Even as a Melbournian I loved this attraction as it gives you a different aspect of all those other Melbourne attractions you thought you knew. For the extra cost we did the Edge Experience and while it is a cool thing to do, it is probably not essential. I would suggest you go late afternoon so that you can see the city in daylight, stay a while and you can take in the night view and gain two different perspectives from the same view. Sherbrooke Forest – ferns along the track
Alex and I are heading out today to the Sherbrooke Forest which is located in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, 40km east of Melbourne. Our plan is to walk to the Sherbrooke Falls which are located within the national park. The walk should take us about 1 hour (round trip). Continue reading
Beachside, the perfect recovery position
Today is the day after the night before.
Let me explain… yesterday was the AFL (Australian Football League) Grand Final back in my home town of Melbourne.
