Our mission for the evening ahead is hopefully a sensational city view to remember.
We start the night after a recharge at the Parkroyal when a decision is made by Alex to grab dinner at the 51 Old Airport Road hawker centre. So glad when we got there as it was just what we were looking for, cheap and heaps (of choice). Looks like a 3 course meal tonight…
We start with satay sticks in the first isle (S$5 for 10 sticks), move to mains with a curry and chicken rice in the back isle (S$12 total) and then into the middle isle for dessert (consisting of bowl of ice, strawberry syrup and peaches) (S$4 total). All really nice and in a place with great atmosphere and not so many tourists. Love the sandalwood insence as well.
It’s 9:00pm by this stage and we had thought we would try and end our night at the esplanade to hopefully discover a night view of the city. With this in mind we wander down the street and come across MRT where we work out we can get train from here to Esplanade station and see what the esplanade provides. I am figuring it will bring us out somewhere near the esplanade and hopefully views of the city.
Arrive at Esplanade Station and make our way to ground level. We chance upon another hawker centre with great view of the marina but, because we’ve already eaten, decide to keep this in mind for another time. Lots of tourists at this hawker centre in comparison with where we’ve just come from.
Fantasic night vista over all of the city and the Marina Bay area. We are happy to sit and take in the view for a long while to finish off our night. From the esplanade you have lovely views of the city (and the gorgeous Fullerton Hotel facade) to our right and the Marina Bay Hotel to our left with the light twinkling over the water inbetween. It’s a gorgeous evening in Singapore. Tomorrow awaits.[showmyads]
