The saltwater pool is beautiful. “Alex, can we stay here all day?”
The air temperature in the shade is so pleasant and the background buzz of the main street 8 floors below is comforting. Why comforting?
Comforting to know we don’t have to battle its chaos (for now anyway). This is our third day in busy Bangkok and I hate to admit I am feeling like I am a little over it. I feel like to need to take a break from Bangkok already… what is wrong with me, I must be unwell?
But the good news is, Alex and I are staying at the Centre Point Hotel Silom in Bangkok…which is the perfect place to escape.
Centre Point Hotel Silom is a 4 star hotel located near the Chao Phraya River. The hotel is located above a Robinsons Shopping Centre, along a main road which has a whole plethora of shops. Below the Centre Point Hotel Silom is a Starbucks, handy for that start of day / end of day coffee fix.
And did I mention it had a beautiful, quiet, private pool.
While we haven’t managed to spend all day lolling about in the Centre Point Hotel Silom pool, Alex and I have managed a good couple of hours enjoying the hotel’s amenities which is a fancy word for “pool and other good stuff”.
But…as beautiful as the pool is, we need to eat. Given our location, food shouldn’t be far. Hmmm, let me see…..I predict food may be as close as the street below. The eating options immediately around to hotel, along the main road are mostly “local” eateries. For us and our delicate western stomachs, we fear the local hole in the wall food options around the hotel may be a touch too “local” and something we are not willing to gamble our stomachs on.
Finally in one of the backstreets we stumble across a nice quiet corner restaurant. So what’s the name of this joint? Its called “Aussie Steaks”. Really? In Bangkok, Thailand?
We discover “Aussie Steaks” offer just about one eating option of every type of food. The menu has pasta, chips, Australian steak (of course) and lets not forget Thai food. What do we choose? Thai of course ! Like the saying goes… “When in Thailand”, or is that Rome? Whatever – eat up Alex.
