Pantip Plaza is Bangkok’s mecca for computer and electronic geeks.  Basically, it is like a regular shopping mall, but with not a stitch of clothing in sight…except maybe a T-shirt with a clever IT joke written on it.

Instead, of clothes, there are 5 floors of non-stop new and old, real and fake computer and electronics stuff.  Everything computer or electronic you may want is available here, some multiple times over.  Pantip Plaza is located on Petchaburi Road in the Ratchathewi district and is a THB$150 (AUD$6) taxi fare from our Centre Point Hotel Silom location. Long Tail Boat Bangkok Thailand

Its rise and shine on another beautiful humid day in Bangkok, Thailand.  Today is river cruising day and I am excited! – Alex not so much.

What I am looking forward to is a long tail boat ride down the famous Chao Phraya River and its surrounding canals (aka Khlongs).

Comforting to know we don’t have to battle its chaos (for now anyway).  This is our third day in busy Bangkok and I hate to admit I am feeling like I am a little over it.  I feel like to need to take a break from Bangkok already… what is wrong with me, I must be unwell? Continue reading

Khao San Road, Bangkok Thailand

Khao San Road

Khao San Road

Alex and I are in Bangkok, Thailand and have had a grand day exploring Wot Pho and the Grand Palace.

Our next stop is the lively tourist zone and backpacker domain which is the well known Khao San Road.

In hindsight, we should have just got a taxi.

Surprisingly, our big challenge turns out to be getting from the Grand Palace to Khao San Road.  Who would have thought?

Grand Palace, Bangkok, Thailand

The Nai Fhun restaurant sits across the street from the entrance to the Grand Palace in Ratanakosin, Bangkok Thailand.

The reeeeally good things about this restaurant is that it is air-conditioned (big tick) and the perfect relief from this Bangkok humidity.  What’s more, this restaurant has the best banana smoothie I have had so far in Thailand (bigger tick).

All this good stuff and we haven’t even got to the Grand Palace yet. Continue reading
