Conservatory of flowers
Alex and I are in San Francisco and today we are heading out to explore Golden Gate Park. Golden Gate Park is San Francisco’s equivalent of New York’s Central Park, only larger.
Golden Gate Park covers an area of 1,017 acres so Alex and I need to get a hat and our most comfortable walking shoes. Given we have one small backpack of clothes each, our most comfortable shoes would also actually be our only walking shoes. Continue reading
Welcome to Alcatraz
Today Alex and I are heading off to the hottest attraction in San Francisco – the decommissioned island federal penetentiary that is Alcatraz.
After our visit to Alcatraz we will visit the sea lions at Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf and then walk to Coit Tower to look at the fantastic 360 degree views of San Francisco. Continue reading
Goodbye Luxor – goodbye Las Vegas
Alex and I have spent the last couple of days in Las Vegas and had a fantastic time. Today we are leaving the bright lights of Las Vegas and travelling to San Francisco where we will spend 4 days exploring the city.
Some of the highlights of San Francisco we are hoping to see include a trip out to Alcatraz, walking the Golden Gate Bridge and visiting Pier 39 & Golden Gate Park. Continue reading
Bellagio Fountains display
It is another hot 36 degree day in the Nevada desert and our last day in the wonderland that is Las Vegas. Our plans for tonight are exciting, starting with tonight’s performance of “The Vegas Show”.
After The Vegas show we will (again) dine at Mon Ami Gabi (Paris). Our night will finish with a front row viewing of the Bellagio Fountains. Continue reading
Excalibur is gloriously lit
Alex and I are venturing out on our second day exploring the various hotels and casinos along the Las Vegas Boulevard “Strip”.
Today’s focus is on the eastern side of the Las Vegas Boulevard, working our way north from our first stop at New York-New York Hotel and Casino. New York- New York… a city so fantastic, they name it twice.
Other casinos on our list today include the MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood and Paris. Continue reading
Fremont Street is so old school cool
Today Alex and I will visit about 10 Las Vegas casinos, mainly focusing on some of the main hotels and casinos on the West side of Las Vegas Boulevard.
Some casinos we will walk to, others we can take a monorail to. Later tonight we will take a taxi to the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas, which is otherwise referred to as the “old Vegas”. Continue reading

Alex and I are at the Bright Angel Lodge on the south rim of the magnificent Grand Canyon in Arizona.
