Alex and I are booked to fly to Bali today for a 7 day beach break.
It was a last minute decision and the booking was only made only 2 weeks ago.
Emrah, our limouisine driver pulls into the driveway to take us to the airport for our Jetstar plane which is scheduled to leave at 6:45pm.
After a 3 hour delay (sigh) we finally depart Melbourne airport. Good one Jetstar. It is 9:45pm. This means our arrival time into Bali is now pushed back to 1:00am. Just as well our hotel, The Grand Balisani Suites Hotel has 24 hour reception.
Our pilot has put his foot down during our 6 hour flight and has managed to make up some valuable time. Finally…we arrive in Bali, Indonesia.
As we make our way through immigration, we need to pay for our AUD($30) visa fee. Next is customs which is all completed with minimal fuss.
As soon as we leave the sanctuary of customs we enter the open area of the airport where there are blue top taxi drivers a plenty. We need a taxi to get to our hotel in Seminyak so we ask the first taxi driver “how much to Seminyak?” His reply is IDR$250,000 (AUD$25)… hmmm. My research told me it should be about IDR$80,000 (AUD$8). Keep moving Alex.
We settle on a IDR$150,000 (AUD$15) fare. I still feel its overpriced but am too tired.
The trip from the airport to the Grand Balisani Suites Hotel in Seminyak takes us 25 minutes thanks to minimal traffic.
We are greeted warmly on our arrival at the Grand Balisani Suites Hotel and are efficiently checked in. The Balinese staff are so very gentle and polite.
We thank them and are shown to our room and given a quick run down of the room…the safe, mini bar, bathroom… Alex gives a customary IDR$10,000 (AUD$1) tip.
The trip has taken us 12 hours from door to door, but now that we are here, we look forward to a good night’s sleep before a full day of relaxation by the pool tomorrow.
